A novel connection between semantic networks, rule-based methodologies and visual data mining.
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study in which domain knowledge on strategic management is represented as a graph and visually mined using graph layout algorithms for insights and new knowledge creation.
The study suggests and adopts semantic networks, establishing a crucial link between rule-based methodologies and data mining.
The use of semantic networks to formalise knowledge and enable the visual mining of existing knowledge introduces a method that can support analysis beyond this specific case.
